Tidbit Food Cart Pod Welcomes Parsons Farm Fresh Produce

photo 1

The Tidbit Food Farm and Garden at SE 28th & Division is so much more than food carts.  Today was the first day that Parsons Farms was in business at the food cart pod!  They had delicious produce for sale.  I’m sure they will soon prove to be a huge asset to those living in the neighborhood.

The pod is also home to the Lodekka Double Decker Dress Shop, formerly of N. Williams St.

And of course, there are more than 10 food carts in the pod that was already bustling for only being a few weeks old.

Spotlight on SE 30th & Division

As the new Marketing & Communications Rep for the DCBA, part of my job to get to know all the businesses in the District.  Taking inventory of all the new businesses is no short order!  This week I spent some time on 30th & Division.

The block is home to the new D-Street Village; home to over 20 businesses.  At the entrance to the building you will find two of the nicest businesses The City Reader – A Modern News Stand and the Portland Juice Company.  I couldn’t imagine a better way to start the day then with a paper and a fresh juice.

Moving to the inside, D-Street Village houses some really impressive owner-operated small businesses.  Holy Spokes!  Full Service Bike Shop opened inside the building just three weeks ago.  Owner Tim Ennis had some great ideas about member to member discounts and looks forward to meeting many of the other Division businesses.

The building is also home to the re-birth of iconic downtown Portland business Josephine’s Dry Goods.  I recognized their name immediately and was thrilled to meet the new owner.  Bini Leach said there was no way she could not have carried on the business; as it is the best place to find high quality apparel fabrics in Portland.

There are many other great new(ish) businesses on the block including Pizza Maria, Bollywood Theatre and Imperial Bottle Shop.  But a visit to Division just wouldn’t be the same without a stop in to some of the long standing businesses on the block.  It’s so great to see veteran businesses like the Detour Cafe and Flying Cat Coffee Company holding their own in a sea of change.  Each business adds something special to the block and we’re so happy everyone is here.

It’s National Health Center Week

NewGeneralFB2014 National Health Center Week 2014, August 10-16th, celebrates community health centers across the country.

The OHSU Family Medicine at Richmond Clinic at 3930 SE Division Street is one of the many health centers to provide access to high quality, affordable, patient-centered care in communities where people live and work. OHSU Richmond has provided world class health care to SE Portland since 1995. It is recognized by the Oregon Health Authority as a top tier Patient Centered Primary Care Home. The staff takes pride in making sure every individual is treated with dignity and respect regardless of barriers like social history, medical history, or economic status. Since becoming a Federally Qualified Heath Center in 2012, the clinic has expanded its services and its ability to provide care to more patients, currently reaching over 12,000 people in our area.

OHSU Richmond recently added a Walk-In Clinic at 4212 SE Division Street for urgent or preventive health needs. Anyone from the community, insured or self-pay, can walk in without appointments and may utilize the pharmacy and x-ray services of the OHSU Richmond clinic as needed. The Walk-In clinic is open 8am- 7:30pm Monday through Friday and 9am-2:30pm on Saturday. A sliding scale for Self-pay patients helps reduce barriers to receiving care. To ensure the community is both physically and mentally healthy, the Walk-In clinic collaborates with Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare to offer access to their services.

Following National Health Week, OHSU Richmond and the Walk-In clinic are celebrating the One Year Anniversary of the Walk-In Clinic. On August 21st from 3pm-6pm, join us on the lawn outside the clinic for an ice cream social. Come meet the staff and learn more about both clinics. Everyone is welcome!
